NHC's Annual Budget Forum provides housing stakeholders and practitioners with a look at the President’s FY 2016 budget request for housing programs set in the context of both great housing need and the many people working to serve that need.
NHC Vice President of Policy and Advocacy, Ethan Handelman, gave a brief overview of current housing challenges. A presentation of housing intersections research from NHC's Center for Housing Policy provided a foundation for the value of federal housing programs. HUD Budget staff Laura Hogshead reviewed the President's budget proposal. Panelists discussed the President's budget and the role of federal funding in creating and preserving affordable housing. Budget Forum panelists represent the spectrum of housing, from homelessness to homeownership and from the state and local level to the federal level.
