The Membership Committee recruits and renews members to the Young Leaders in Affordable Housing (“YLAH”). The Membership Committee assists with membership contact, develops and revises the annual membership recruitment and retention plan, determines and responds to members’ needs, determines methods to recognize and reward members, and implements methods to involve members in YLAH committees, programs and activities. If you’re interested in joining the Membership Committee, please email Jennifer Litwak at email@example.com.
Professional Development and Mentorship Committee
So you want to succeed in the affordable housing world. YLAH offers a signature 6-month mentorship program matching each participant with an insightful seasoned professional with a financial services, real estate development, think tank/policy, federal agency, or supportive services background. In addition to the mentorship program, YLAH offers year-round networking and professional development opportunities at no cost to its members. If you’re interested in joining the Professional Development and Mentorship Committee, email Thu Nguyen at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Tina Dudley at email@example.com.
Philanthropy and Service Committee
Interested in truly rounding out your commitment to the housing and community development field? The Philanthropy and Service Committee is here to help you help others (and have fun in the process). Our goal is identify and organize meaningful opportunities for YLAH members to give back. Past service opportunities have included participating in school supply drives, housing builds, urban tree plantings, community meal preparations, and run/walk fundraisers. Volunteers are able to engage with local nonprofits and gain insight into the diverse issues impacting low-income communities. If interested in helping plan the 2015 calendar, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and join the committee!
The goal of the Events Committee is to plan social gatherings for YLAH members to meet, network, and enjoy Washington in the company of like-minded affordable housing professionals. Past events have included happy hours, sporting events, and cultural outings such as enjoying music at Yards Park. For 2015, we would like to plan a robust events calendar and work in conjunction with the Professional Development and Philanthropy committees to ensure that members get the greatest possible benefit from attending YLAH events. All ideas are welcome, so if you are interested in joining the Events Committee, email Mark Perlman at email@example.com.
