Philanthropy and Community Service Committee

If you live and/or work in the District of Columbia, you are no doubt aware that DC is experiencing skyrocketing rents and prices and rapid gentrification. We need to show that District residents from all walks of life support strong funding for local affordable housing resources. In addition, more affordable housing production means more jobs for those of us who work at the local level!

Please join your YLAH friends supporting the Housing For All campaign's "DC Is Our Home."

Soap for Hope – LAUNDRY/CLEANING SUPPLY DRIVE

Our charity partner for this year's holiday party will be the local nonprofit Transitional Housing Corporation (THC). THC strives to end family homelessness in the District of Columbia through the provision of a continuum of housing opportunities wrapped by comprehensive supportive services.

More than 20 of THC's families are currently in great need of laundry and house cleaning supplies. These are items that often end up taking the back seat, so be sure to bring along something to donate!  Laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and all-purpose cleaner are particularly needed, but all supplies are welcome. Help YLAH provide "soap for hope!"

Professional Development and Mentorship Committee

YLAH will be recruiting participants in its signature Mentorship Program, which will match mentees with seasoned professionals in the affordable housing industry. Our diverse mentors represent all facets of the field, including policy think tanks, financial institutions, federal agencies, developers and supportive services.

Stay tuned for more information!
